Production Diary Week 5:

This week in media, we have been taking our final steps towards the start of our magazine creation. So far, we have analysed contents pages, double page spreads and front covers of magazines in order to gain a real understanding and level of respect for how certain things work in magazines. This week, our task was to analyse the names of different magazines to comment on how effective they are in different fields. In lesson, we learnt of four different types of names for magazines, including acronyms. This task will help us gain a real knowledge of the way that names of magazines are affective and how they can relate to the target audience that they are selling to. Having done this task, I have decided that the final name for my magazine will be "Indie-Vidual". This is not only clever, but relates perfectly to the genre and the audience. The genre is obviously Indie, but the "Vidual" part is what makes it unique and clever. As many fans of Indie/Alternative music are individualists, they feel that they want to be differnt from everyone else. In context, Indie is a genre which started off as an almost "Nieche market" type of music. This means that the songs written, artists and even the music videos associated with Indie music were unique. This leads to the name "Indie-Vidual".
